Beachside Holiday Units

The unit had what we needed, though everything felt very old. The complex could have been perfect, but after our first night both my boyfriend and I woke up covered in bed bug bites. My legs and back got bitten badly, and I was still itching days later. They need to fumigate the place.

The space was a big plus for us. There’s nothing worse than feeling cramped in a hotel or unit, no matter how many people are staying. We had a garden-view unit with a separate room screened off by a curtain, a comfy double bed, and a large bathroom with amazing shower pressure. The sofa also turns into a bed, which worked well for younger kids. It was self-contained, with a gas stove and all the cookware and utensils we needed, plus a roomy living and dining area. Being so close to the beach meant we could take a lovely walk by the ocean after dinner. I FaceTimed my fiancé, and he was so impressed he said we have to come back together. When we were leaving, I was tidying our things and doing one last cleanup. I’d already swept about five times over the previous 12 hours, but said I’d do one final sweep before we went. My brother asked, “Geez, how many times do you need to sweep?” I told him, “Mate, when you leave a hotel you always leave it in a better condition than when you found it.” He said, “How do you leave it better when it was already perfect?” I think that says it all.

We come back regularly. For this price, you won’t find a self-contained unit like this, especially just a few metres from the beach. It could use some maintenance, but the management are gentle, helpful people. What you save on the stay can easily go toward eating out 😉

I’m a really happy customer, and I wanted to share my experience because the current rating seems so low. I almost parked right outside the ground-floor room, so hauling all the stuff you end up with when travelling with two kids was easy. The room was spacious and convenient for a family, and the price was good. I like fresh air and don’t enjoy hotel rooms with fixed windows you can’t open. At Beachside units, we could open the windows and let in the morning sun. The air con got properly cold, and the shower had plenty of hot and cold water with great pressure. It might be the best shower I’ve had in years of travelling around QLD. I was a bit concerned about the internet after reading reviews, but it was very fast even with several devices connected. I had a good Zoom meeting that morning with both my phone and computer connected, video on, and screen sharing. The staff member was kind and left us alone. I’m very happy!
