CityStyle Executive Apartments

We never got the information needed to access the property, and the site didn’t reply despite repeated calls and emails. We booked through booking.com and spent two hours on the phone with them in London, waiting for a full refund before arranging somewhere else. Although the listing said parking was free, we had to pay upfront through the booking.com website to a different bank account. Now we have to chase that parking fee refund separately through booking.com. I wouldn’t deal with either organisation again.

The location was great, but the apartment itself was dated and poorly cleaned. There was previous guests’ underwear in the dryer, the patio looked neglected, and the main bathroom smelled damp and musty. The building foyer absolutely stank. Wi-Fi details were wrong, though after some chasing I found the correct information. There were no ceiling fans or air conditioning in the bedrooms, and no security screens, so on a warm night it didn’t feel safe to leave the windows open for ventilation. A broken blind at the back door hung across it and couldn’t be moved. The apartment isn’t even listed on their website, so you don’t know what you’re getting. Not good value at all. I don’t recommend booking with City Style apartments.

The office staff were lovely and understanding, and offered a refund when no other apartment was available. We found somewhere else for only $20 more per night, and it was a huge improvement. We’d booked a place advertised as ‘executive’, ‘luxury’ and ‘modern’, but the apartment was a dive. It was grubby, tired and old, with a toilet that didn’t work properly, a balcony door that was extremely hard to open, and a filthy heat pump missing its opening flap cover. It was the opposite of executive or luxury, and certainly not modern. The advertising was misleading.

The one-bedroom apartment was large and in a great spot, walking distance to everything. It had all the basics, including decent complimentary instant coffee. I’d give it five stars if it had an ensuite, but the bathroom and toilet were at one end of the apartment and the bedroom at the other.
