Brighton Hotel Motel

We were a big group and waited ages for the meals, which came out separately and very slowly. My roast was slop on a plate, and they forgot one child's bowl of chips. It was horrible, and I wouldn't go back.

We've eaten here as a couple before without problems, but they seemed unable to handle our birthday group of 18 in the function room. Several orders were missed, and when I pointed out that a whole docket was missing, I was spoken to as if I were stupid because I'd asked for rump rather than porterhouse. When the food finally arrived, most orders were wrong, with people getting chips and salad instead of just chips, or missing the salad they'd asked for. We paid for at least three jugs of gravy that never came, and my daughter's steak had so much gristle she couldn't eat half of it. The delays kept us there late. I definitely wouldn't recommend this for a special occasion.

The venue looked clean and tidy, but the meal was a letdown and I wouldn't return to the Brighton Hotel Motel for food. Ordering at the bar, I felt like an inconvenience rather than a welcome guest, although the two mains and garlic cob loaf were entered correctly. The $12 loaf was a decent size and the bread was fine, but the butter tasted like it used jarred minced garlic. It was underwhelming, about 5/10. My Swiss Chicken cost $31 and was particularly poor value, maybe 1/10. The portion was generous, but the description promised chicken breast with bacon, cheese and creamy Dijon mustard sauce, plus chips and salad. The salad was lettuce and cucumber with vinaigrette, more like garnish than a proper side. Chips were stuck together and bland, perhaps reheated. The chicken seemed precooked and reheated, dry and lacking flavour. Its gloopy sauce reminded me of jelly, with no mustard taste. Diced bacon mixed into it looked undercooked, though it was hot, as if microwaved. To be fair, the menu doesn't say meals are freshly cooked, but that doesn't excuse such a lacklustre dish. This is just my experience and may not reflect what others usually get.

I was left waiting at the gaming bar while the older man with glasses looked at his phone. He ignored me, served a bloke who came in after me, then went back to his phone. The service was very poor, so I walked out and won't return.
