Alex Perry Hotel & Apartments

The sunrise views were a real highlight, and the top-deck pool was a great place to unwind after a busy day or night. There’s plenty of room to relax, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Alex Perry Hotel & Apartments is spacious, comfortable and well set up. The location is spot on for the Valley, with everything nearby while still feeling relaxed. I’d happily return, whether for work or a weekend trip. Highly recommended.

Our flight was canceled and we were put up here. The nice rooms and shops and restaurants within walking distance made losing a day feel worthwhile. American sent about half a plane’s worth of people at once, but the staff still got everyone checked in just 15 minutes after the posted check-in time. They were all friendly and kept apologizing for the wait, though I didn’t think they needed to. I’m sure many guests were cranky after the canceled-flight chaos, and I thought the staff did a great job. I’d recommend this as a nice place downtown.

Over the last month I’ve stayed in 12 places in Brisbane, and this is definitely one of the best. The rooms are big and very clean, and Scott at the front desk was really helpful. I definitely recommend this spot.

The location is the main thing this hotel has going for it. For somewhere that presents itself as quality and luxury, I found it underwhelming. We were two people in a two-bedroom suite, which was okay, but I’d hate to have four people sharing that space. They let us check in early, saying the room had just been cleaned, but there were still crumbs from the previous guests on the dining table. The main bathroom also has a design flaw: its towel holders are so high, at door-frame level, that they’re impractical if you’re 5'3". For a designer hotel, hmm, yeah nah. Reception is open 24 hours, which is great, but when I called at 9:30 pm on Saturday to ask for a firmer pillow, Ron sounded inconvenienced. He said all the pillows were the same, then, with some attitude, said he supposed he could look for one. I didn’t want to trouble him, so I was told to try the couch cushions instead. The couch was stained, so I wasn’t going to sleep on those manky cushions. The hotel was meh, so don’t go in with high expectations.
