We found a room just one week before a concert, and the price was fantastic. The receptionist recommended a great dinner spot that we tried and loved, and the rooms and comfy beds were awesome for the price. I left my necklace behind and didn’t realise until I was home. They were happy to mail it, sent it off a day later, and I had it by Thursday after checking out on Sunday. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience. The rooms and facilities were new and very clean, with a great industrial kitchen and a lovely pool deck that also has use of the bar area. It’s only minutes on foot from the heart of Fortitude Valley, yet far enough away for a quiet night’s sleep. I did find the common area lacked a social buzz, though that’s something I’ve found with cleaner, more polished hostels. The trivia night was well planned and had a lot of production behind it. I had a very comfortable stay and would recommend it if the price is good. People saying the kitchen is filthy or dirty really haven’t spent time in hostels. Compared with other places, that claim is pretty funny and far from the truth.

The rooms are modern and clean, and the dorm gives you plenty of privacy, with your own toilet and shower in the room plus a light by the bed. The kitchen is spacious and has all the equipment you need, although the cutlery and plates were dirty. There’s a refreshing pool too, and a bar inside the hostel, though it’s quite expensive. I recommend the place.

The location is fantastic, right in the centre and close to nightlife, shops, and the metro, which is really convenient. Most of the staff are friendly and chatty, and after staying here for months with friends while we saved to move out, it has a special place in my heart. Still, I can’t recommend it. The biggest issue is the rent. By the end of my stay I was paying around $420 a week, and they were trying to raise it to $500 for an 8 person dorm. That’s insane. If you work full time on a casual contract, it’s about half your weekly paycheck. I came to Brisbane looking for work, and money would disappear insanely fast here. There are much cheaper options with the same services. The kitchen is disgusting. People leave pans and plates dirty, and the cleaners do nothing about it. The kitchen hours are inconvenient if you work nights. There isn’t really a social life here, so if you’re travelling to meet people, this absolutely is NOT the place. Every room I stayed in had cockroaches in the toilet and shower. The WiFi literally never works, and my mobile data was in a dead zone, with two bars of signal at most. The price can’t be justified, and it’s not social, so do what you will with this information.
