Central Brunswick Apartment Hotel

The bed was great, and the bathroom was clean, though it needed paint. The rooms felt a bit like a backpacker place or office. For the price, I’d say no, maybe it should be $199. The location was okay, but there were empty shops around. It’s a bit sad, since it used to be a foodie area. I tried the homemade noodles from the centre, probably the wrong choice. I prefer FV, but might book again if I’m really desperate.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and parking was easy to access. We checked in outside reception hours, but it was simple. Our room was clean and nicely styled, with a comfortable bed. I liked the soaps, tea, and other items sourced from local Australian companies. There were lots of restaurants and shops in the complex and a short walk away.

The location and value for money are both great. Room standards can vary because they’re independently owned. The first one I was given, room 211, was very poor, but after I complained they moved me to a much better room.

It’s a handy spot for an overnight stay in the Valley, with everything needed for a short stay, and about 500m from Brunswick St Mall. Google Maps wasn’t much help finding the entrance for parking. Turn into Martin St, then take the first driveway on the left. There’s free two-hour parking for people using the area’s downstairs shops. Pull in, check in, then ask the concierge for a room key to get into the secure parking for hotel guests. We booked online and weren’t told there’d be no staff for check-in. The building is both residential and hotel style. If you’re lost without reception, there’s a call phone at the front door, or you can wait for a tenant. The bathroom could use some care and the cleaning needs a bit more attention. The glass isn’t double glazed, so there’s a lot of street noise. Still, not a bad little place to crash if you want to be among the action.
