Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre by IHG

I'm into my second week here and will be staying 4 3 weeks. Meagan and inna are lovely staff, kind and never rushing you. The location is superb, the room is beautiful, the air is perfect, and everything works. I just got back from a walk of over 7000 steps. This is a safe area. I can't say enough about the place, and trust me, I'll stay here again when I come back to brisbane.

It's a boutique style hotel, so it doesn't have everything a big chain might offer, but that can be a good thing. The room is cleverly laid out to make the most of the space. The bed is firm without being hard, with lovely linen and fluffy towels. Shower pressure is good, though not great. There's a kettle but no coffee machine in the room. The staff were our number one reason for loving the stay. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and seemed to enjoy working there. Breakfast was included for us and very good, and we also enjoyed dinner at the hotel. The pool is at the neighbouring Voco hotel. It's small, but there is a pool if you want one. Parking isn't at the hotel, though we managed fine and had a good rate through our luxury escapes package for the CBD. I'd suggest checking in and dropping bags off before going to the car park, and doing the reverse when leaving. A little clunky, but quite doable. We'd return.

We spent three pleasant nights here. The rooms were nicely decorated and well maintained, and there is a 24 hour reception. The bar upstairs looks out over the street and serves interesting cocktails. The hotel is very conveniently placed in the city centre, close to the river and not far from the botanic gardens. There's also a nice pool area at the neighbouring hotel, with pool towels.

The room was small, but the layout and interior design made good use of the space. Cleanliness, though, was a serious problem. The coffee table, vanity, and bedside tables all had sticky drink residue; there were crumbs on the sofa and floor, and dust everywhere. The only things that seemed properly changed were the bed linens and towels, so we had to clean the room ourselves when we arrived. I'd read reviews mentioning cleanliness before booking and thought they might be isolated incidents, especially for an IHG property. Sadly, our stay confirmed those concerns. This is honestly one of the least clean hotels I've stayed in, and housekeeping standards and staff training clearly need significant improvement.
