Mercure Brisbane King George Square

The staff were friendly and capable, and they moved us quickly when we found the air conditioning in our first room wasn’t working in the hot, humid weather. The replacement room’s AC mostly worked, though not completely. The rooms are worn and urgently need repairs and renovation. Our two-queen room was cramped, with barely enough space to walk around the beds. The old shower-over-bath was awkward, and the floor drain backed up. The windows were very grubby on the outside, spoiling what would have been a fantastic city view.

We ended up spending an unexpected day at the hotel when our grandchildren got sick and we couldn’t visit as planned. It was disappointing, but the staff at Goldfinch were incredibly accommodating. They let us work in the restaurant while they swept and set tables around us, checked on us regularly, brought iced water, and even served our lunch early. Everything at the hotel was clean and comfortable, and both room-service dinners were absolutely perfect. Thank you so much.

The staff were caring and so obliging, and the rooms were beautiful. The hotel is in a great city location, and the restaurant food was excellent, especially at the cafe. Breakfast was really good too, particularly the omelette cooked right in front of you by the lady at the station. Concierge Justin was always helpful, and quickly got us a taxi on our last day. He’s a real ambassador for the hotel. Highly recommend. David and Penny

The staff were all so friendly, and Luke was a real gem, helpful, kind, and professional. He made our first trip to Brisbane wonderful, and we’ll be back. Our room was spacious, clean, and tidy, with a great city view. The pool was nice and quiet, and the hotel’s right in the city centre, making it easy to get anywhere. :)
