Opera Apartments South Brisbane

It felt like a home away from home, with everything laid out well and kept clean. The kitchen had all the cooking equipment, and there was a washer and dryer too. Even thoughtful little things were covered, like chilled water in the fridge and ice cubes in the freezer. Highly recommend.

Management was shocking. We paid 1300.0 0 for two nights, but the room didn't have the number of beds we had requested, so our child had to sleep on the floor. When we asked about getting a bed, we were given poor excuses about management having gone home. There were no luggage trolleys for taking bags up in the lifts, and the car park was cramped with unsuitable spaces for our van. Getting offered another spot was a big deal, and the replacement had exactly the same size problem. The cleaners could hardly speak English. I wouldn't recommend these apartments. We also spoke with residents who own or rent there, and they were unhappy living there too.

The apartment was modern and in a really good, quiet location, with a great bakery downstairs. After-hours check-in was easy, and there was a smart TV with Netflix. But when we arrived, there was a dead cockroach by the toilet with ants all over it. Someone came the next day and sprayed it with store-bought bug spray. Judging by some other reviews, I wonder if this has happened before. We booked a place listed as having 'no view'. Booking.com showed a balcony with an obscured outside view, but ours was a closed-in courtyard facing another building. It got no natural light, so we needed the lights on all day. Leaves from the courtyard tree blew over the outdoor furniture and into the apartment. I expected more care from a four-star property. The higher-floor rooms might be better.

The front desk lady was so lovely and helpful, and the apartment had everything we needed. The bed was quite hard, though. Still, it was a great stay and I'd come back.
