Royal Albert Hotel

A really pleasant stay. The staff were welcoming, the room was comfortable and clean, and everything had a nice feel to it. Great value, too. I'd gladly stay again.

The layout of the room was nice, and the hotel was quiet and convenient for the CBD. I booked directly on the hotel's website after seeing that 90% of the reviews were good. But our apartment had a musty smell and stains on the carpets in nearly every room. I'm not someone who usually asks the desk for another room, though I should have. If I got another room like this one on a future stay, I'd definitely go back and demand a change.

Room 401 was disgusting. The room was filthy, the dirty sofa stank, the bedside tables seemed not to have been cleaned in ages, and we sneezed all night. There was mold in the bathroom. I'm a senior and this was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. We checked in late and had breakfast with our grandchildren the next morning, otherwise we'd have left right away. The customer service was excellent. Parking cost $30 at a shopping centre, and there was only one lift serving the big centre. That was the only way out of the car park. Carrying luggage across a busy road to the hotel was a pain. Please clean your act.

The location was great, and thankfully the bathrooms and beds were clean, with the bathrooms somewhat updated. But the rooms smelled musty, and there was thick dust in every corner, stained carpets and visible mold covering the air vents. The Wi-Fi didn't work during either of our two nights there in April 2026. I'd recommend choosing a different hotel.
