The Windsor Apartments and Hotel Brisbane

With my husband ill in hospital, I stayed here with my three girls and was left feeling very vulnerable and unsafe. Twice, staff entered my room without knocking. The first time, a young man came in to make up the couch an hour after check-in. He walked straight past me and my teenage daughters, made it up, then left. The second time, two people barged in to do a checkout clean a day early. On checkout day I took my young baby down to pack the car. When the lift opened, it was full of blow flies and smelled horrific, with flies all over the walls and ceiling. I was mortified and had to stand there swatting so they wouldn’t land on my baby. The unit floors were filthy too. Our feet went black from walking on them, and I couldn’t put the baby down to play. An awful experience, especially for the price.

The staff were warm and helpful, and the apartment was quiet despite being close to cafes, shops, and public transport. It was clean, modern, and stocked with everything I needed. I had a really comfortable stay in Windsor and would happily book it again when I'm in Brisbane.

My partner was in Brisbane for medical appointments, and this was easily the worst place I've stayed. We asked about early check-in because of a hospital admission. At noon the room wasn't ready, so we left our bags and went to the hospital. I came back from shopping at 1:55 and it still hadn't been cleaned. I called the attendant, and by 3:30 it had been attended to, but there was no complimentary milk or water. We'd also asked for a shower chair because my partner is a recent amputee; I had to call again about that, and communication was poor. The room was cramped for someone using a prosthesis, and there were no cups, plates, eating utensils, tissues, or face washers. When I went to make coffee after picking him up, the kettle still had water in it and was full of tea bags. At $317 a night, plus $20 a night for parking, the car space was so small two people couldn't get in at once. Then the Saturday rate jumped to $700 because of a football game in the city. Definitely wouldn't recommend it.

I drove three hours for an appointment, checked in, paid, and then found out my room wasn't available. At 10 pm, service told me they were fully booked and couldn't help. I'd give it no stars if I could. I won't recommend this place.
