Monkey Place Country House

For hair and makeup before a wedding at somewhere like Margan, there isn’t much natural light inside. We found the best spot was the small table for two between the fireplace and dining table, where the skylight gives you a little daylight. We fit nine people comfortably for our wedding stay. There’s a much-loved hot tub, a pair of hammocks, a barbecue, open airy spaces, a fireplace, and separate washer and dryer. The kitchen is especially well equipped with utensils, cutlery, pots and pans for a large group. It has pretty much all the amenities you need, and I’d happily recommend staying here.

Ben made the lead-up to our wedding so much easier. He shared lots of advice about the timeline and key moments throughout the day, and was very easy to deal with. Adams Peak is lucky to have him as its chef. He helped Dean and me in so many ways, and I’d absolutely recommend Monkey Place catering.

The food was so good that people are still talking about the cheese grazing table, how tasty everything was, and how much there was. We had a cocktail wedding, and Monkey Place Catering made sure there was plenty to go around. Thanks so much, guys! Ben and Jace went above and beyond with our requests. Ben was easy to reach, happy to talk through ideas and what would work, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. He explained things clearly and went out of his way to help us get the best value. Jace and the MP staff were terrific on the day. They were thoughtful, accommodating, and always smiling, which helped keep everyone in a happy mood. Guests enjoyed it, nobody went hungry, and people were still talking about how good the lamb was a month later. It matched what we’d had at the pre-wedding tasting, which was a lovely lunch, and the quality held up when they scaled it to serve a hundred people. Ben’s help made the whole day feel smooth and much less stressful. We were in frequent contact from the start, and he patiently talked us through the pros and cons of each option, answering our many questions with honesty and thoughtfulness. His tips helped us picture how the day would unfold for us and our guests, beyond just the catering. His experience was invaluable as the wedding approached. Organising one is a s***load of work when you’ve never done it before, but we never worried about the catering because we knew Ben and MP had it covered.
