Broken Hill was a pleasant surprise. We felt safe, people were kind to us, and it seemed to be doing much better than the Central West towns we'd travelled through. The lane in western Broken Hill was quiet, with a servo nearby and a major shopping centre about a five-minute walk away. Most of the town's activity seemed to happen from 9am to 1pm, so it's worth getting up early. We spent five days at Ella's Place, and it was lovely to learn about the people who'd lived there, from Aunt Ella and Unc to the first owners who renovated it and the current owners. It felt good to add a short chapter of our own to the house's story. The cottage dates from the early 1900s and has been renovated with modern amenities while keeping its Edwardian decor. The bedrooms are roomy, the shower and bath worked well, and the TV rooms had everything we could want, much like our home in Sydney. We didn't bring kids, but the house seems well suited to families with children aged 10-16, even those from coastal cities who haven't stayed in an older country home before. The only tiny drawback is that just one of the two bathrooms has a toilet. The owners explained things clearly before we arrived and answered all our questions about the accommodation and getting around Broken Hill. We're grateful for their help and hope to stay again one day.

The cottage is in a quiet lane, away from traffic, and we slept without any noise at night. There’s plenty of parking out the back, including space to turn around. It’s an old original home with a heritage feel, fitted out with modern conveniences and decor that suits the area. The large modern shower had plenty of hot water and good pressure, and the beds were very comfortable. A lovely old cottage, and we enjoyed our stay.

This renovated miner's cottage was so cosy and full of character. It had everything we could possibly want, and we loved staying here.

A quirky, quaint Broken Hill experience, with everything we needed and a great atmosphere. It was farther from the centre than I expected, though it was my first visit and I don't know the area. We were heading out for an adventure that day.

The historic decor and thoughtful provisions brought back relaxing childhood memories. We had a delightful five days, with a lovely setting and wonderful hosts who made sure everything was first class. Their generosity and attention to detail were incredible. Best wishes to Kim & Corrine in their future business endeavours.
