Surfside on the Beach

The beach was nearby, which was about the only upside. We paid nearly $1000 for three nights and came away really disappointed and disgusted. The unit was hot and stuffy even with the windows open, and the laundry smelled so awful we kept its door shut and closed our bedroom doors at night to keep the smell out. We were booked for seven people but had only six beds. Reception couldn't sort it out until they spoke with management, so my 19 year old grandson spent the first night on the floor. While we were outside, someone let themselves into the unit and left a stretcher bed in the hallway. The bathroom and bath were dirty and full of dead bugs, with dead cockroaches in the laundry too. Kitchen benches, the dining table, crockery and cutlery were greasy, so we had to wash the dishes before using them. The lights and ceiling fans in the non-main bedrooms only worked on a timer, when they worked at all. There was no toilet paper, so we had to provide our own. It wasn't worth the money.

I've stayed at Surfside twice with my family. One Airbnb experience was actually quite good, but apartment 6 was terrible. The bedroom window was cracked, the towel rack bent, and a bathroom door handle kept falling off. There was mould on the ceiling, stains on the bed, and dust everywhere, even on the walls. The bathroom had no working fan, so the bedroom gets damp and smelly. The toilet had been replaced but the surrounding area hadn't been repainted, and there was no wifi. The room looked like it hadn't been renovated in my lifetime. The master bedroom bedside drawer did have a free box of 50 condoms, I'm not joking. I'd expect a place like this from a dingy 2 star hotel. Never stay here. I've attached photos of the furnishings partly for morbidly curious readers and partly to show management I have proof, so they can't sue me for defamation. Good day.

The kids had plenty to do, and there's a Tavern attached. The rooms were nice too, with the beach right there.

No WiFi for our whole stay, and there were dead cockroaches in the main room bathroom when we arrived. I could never get through to reception. I called, she hung up on me, and said she'd call back, but never did. The shower was covered in mould. So gross. I wouldn't recommend this place and we won't stay here again.
