Buderim Motor Inn

At $115, the room was nowhere near clean enough. There was old food in the microwave and grease on its turntable, plus a previous guest's hair in the shower and on the basin, along with a cockroach. I also found old special papers in the bedside drawers, a Christmas tag from Target and other small bits of rubbish. Some kind of packaging was under the ice in the fridge. There were maintenance problems too. Exposed screw heads on the luggage rack could cause a nasty injury, the light outside the front door didn't work, and the room generally seemed neglected. A peg held the inside curtains closed, and masking tape attached them to the door. I passed all this on to the person looking after the office, who seemed very indifferent. We'll never stay here again.

The pool and staff were nice, but the condition of the place was poor everywhere I looked, with rust and rot. The main problem was the cigarette smell in our room. There were no-smoking signs on the door, yet as soon as we turned the key, the room smelled like someone had lived there for 50 years and smoked all day, every day. People were sitting just outside the rooms near the air conditioners, and the smoke was getting into the rooms. I'd booked a relaxing night with my kids, but we only stayed for a quick swim and checked out, forfeiting $110 for the room. The motor inn claims three stars, but I wouldn't give it even half a star. We booked at Sunshine coast Motor Lodge instead. It's also three stars, but after this place, I'd rate woombye motorlodge 10 stars.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and the location was great, but the stay was very disappointing. It looked nothing like the pictures and was dilapidated. There was no air conditioning, phone or clock radio, as you'd expect in most places, and some lights didn't work. A drunk man knocked on our door very late and woke us. The desk man said that apparently it wasn't unusual. We paid $115 through Agoda and felt ripped off. Never staying there again.

It felt like a 1960s motel that may never have been renovated. White ants had eaten away the bathroom saloon doorposts. When I got up in the night, there was a big cockroach sitting on my toothpaste on the bathroom basin, and there wasn't even a glass for water. Next time I'll book ahead so I don't miss out on a nicer motel.
