It looked nothing like the photos. The place was shabby and run down, with faded signs, a drained pool and worn out everything. The rooms were very dated and smelly, with the usual Queensland mustiness plus a decaying plastic smell. It reminded me of visiting my grandma. There was noise from the main road, which gets used as a hooning track, and I think there were train tracks nearby too, unless I was imagining that. I arrived late and had to call to let them know, whereas other places usually at least send an SMS with the key safe code. I cancelled my second visit and the extra night I was supposed to stay. There must be better options in Bundaberg.

The rooms seemed freshly renovated and were adequate, and the shower was really good. But the booking showed $156 and I was charged $227. It was processed offshore, so apparently the $156 was actually a US price. The pool was still being renovated, which hadn't been mentioned on the sites before I booked. The restaurant didn't seem to get much use, though I did see a couple having breakfast.

Good value for money, and the renovated room was clean with the necessary amenities. The bathroom was simple but adequate. The bed felt a bit too soft, and the pillows were a little high and hard. The pool was unusable while under renovation. I didn't try the restaurant.

The location is great, close to all the amenities, and the room feels cozy after its recent renovation. Parking was okay, though it could be better. The pool renovation still wasn't finished.
