The quiet surroundings let me catch up on plenty of naps, and I’d recommend staying at least three nights if you want time to unwind and use the resort as a base for the wider Sth West. It’s also easy to get to other beaches, coastal walking trails, and Yallingup/Dunsborough town from here. I came for a carers respite break, which happened to fall on my birthday, and felt very safe as a solo woman. Having private access to Bunker Bay beach was a real treat: I could swim, walk back, or watch the sunrise and sunset without needing to drive. The accommodation was lovely, the location in our gorgeous Sth West was beautiful, the rooms and kitchen were well appointed, room service was excellent and flavorful, and the staff were friendly and diverse.

The beach was the best part of our three nights, from 3-6 December. We could stroll down the boardwalk for a morning swim in the calm, crystal-clear water, then head back to a quiet resort tucked beside the national park. It also made a handy base for wineries, coastal walks, and other Margaret River attractions, all an easy drive away. Our villa felt like a private retreat, with generous space, high ceilings, stone feature walls, and a comfortable king bed. The deep bath and separate shower were great for relaxing, and everything was spotless. The gardens, paths, and shared areas were kept immaculate despite the natural surroundings. The staff were warm and helpful throughout, from the front desk to the restaurant. Keely from reservations deserves a mention for sending a detailed PDF of recommendations before we arrived. Her suggestions led us to several excellent wineries, including Jilyara, which was our favourite by far. We also appreciated a generous upgrade from our booked studio king villa to a lake-view studio. We eventually asked to return to our original room type because we wanted to cook dinner one night and needed the full kitchen, but the offer was a lovely start to the stay. Breakfast was reliably good, with lots to choose from and beautiful views. We had dinner at the restaurant too, and both the venison and fish of the day were excellent. Between that, the beach, and the boardwalk, we had everything we wanted on site for a peaceful, romantic break. It’s an expensive property, but we felt the setting, privacy, upkeep, and service made it very good value. We’d love to come back.

Breakfast was a highlight each morning, fresh and generous, with all the favourites and a nice DIY fresh juice station. We also enjoyed lunch and drinks by the pool in a relaxed setting, and spent some time unwinding there. The service throughout our stay was outstanding, from the moment we arrived. We’d just come back from a delightful three-night getaway. Our spacious two-bedroom villa was bright and thoughtfully designed, with high ceilings and big windows that brought the outdoors inside. Being right on Bunker Bay was wonderful, especially with the breathtaking summer colours of the ocean. There are also plenty of restaurants, wineries, and breweries a short drive away.

The breakfast was a real treat for someone like me who loves hotel breakfasts. There was a great variety and the food was really good, with a DIY juice station, virgin Bloody Mary, chia pudding, lots of kinds of nuts, and a gluten-free bakery station. The restaurant waiters also deserve a special mention for excellent service throughout. I got to do yoga on the beach by myself in the morning, and the location was even better than five stars. We had an amazing three-night stay. The room was spacious, with a huge bathroom and a bath. It’s a bit dated, but still clean and in good condition. The pool was good too, as were the tennis court and day spa. We’d been deciding between Rothnest and here, and I was a little worried about coming, but we were really happy with our choice. We’ll definitely come back.

We booked an extra room directly with the Pullman Bunker Bay Resort reservations department on 19 February so our sister could join us. On 21 February she became seriously unwell, and her physician said she must not travel. We contacted the resort straight away to cancel her room, emailed the doctor’s report on 22 February, then sent more medical documentation on 24 February when the reservations team requested it. This was 15 days before the booking date. At first, we were told there would be no cancellation and that we would lose the full prepaid amount. We kept asking for a reasonable solution given the medical circumstances and the notice we’d provided. In a phone conversation on 25 February, a reservations officer said the staff member who took the booking should have offered a flexible option. We were then verbally offered a full credit for the cancelled room, which we were told could be used for room service, pool bar drinks, spa services, and other resort extras during our stay. We were assured an email confirming this would follow. Instead, the email we received on 26 February said: “As your booking is pre-paid, the eligible conditions for a full refund or credit are not met on this occasion and we are unfortunately unable to grant your request on this occasion.” It didn’t mention the credit that had been offered or acknowledge the earlier assurance. There was no compromise. We understand that policies exist, but the mismatch between what was promised by phone and the written response was deeply disappointing. Offering a credit and then withdrawing it entirely in writing felt extremely frustrating and unprofessional. In over 40 years of travel and hospitality experience, this is the first time we’ve encountered such a gap between customer service conversations and formal communication, especially in a documented medical situation raised well before arrival. If you’re considering booking, check whether your rate is flexible or non-refundable, ask what happens in a medical emergency, and get any verbal commitments confirmed in writing straight away. The handling of an already difficult family situation was very disappointing.
