Beachfront Voyager Motor Inn

It’s a short walk to the penguins, beach and a few decent restaurants, which was the upside. The room itself was odd: there was no outdoor access, but the window looked onto our neighbour’s balcony. A 1980s radio was built into the room divider, and the wall mounted hairdryer was under the sink. Reception locks at 6 pm. The guest laundry is just one washer with a 45 minute cycle and one dryer, so taking washing to a local laundrette is easier.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the location was good. It’s probably pricier than Devonport, and they do have the monopoly, but I’d stay again.

I was glad the restaurant stays open late, especially after a long day out when I was hungry. The food was full of flavour and beautifully presented. Service was perfect, and the young staff were professional and polite. Thank you very much!

The group of Bikers who had booked out the hotel gathered in the small car park, drinking their piss and talking loudly until the early hours, then knocking on hotel doors. The Bikers did apologise when we were leaving, but the hotelier gave no apology for the noise and offered no discount. I stayed just one night and only because my prepaid Wotif booking couldn’t be refunded. The bathroom tiles were discoloured, the room smelled mouldy and the light fitting above the bench was falling out. Wi-Fi showed as connected but didn’t work, and when it did connect it quickly dropped out. We could hear everything from the rooms next door.
