The cottage was comfortable and well equipped, and Shawn showed my parents Barry & Margaret around after meeting them at the airport. He gave them a thorough introduction to the amenities. They spent a very relaxing week at Kushu Cottage in Tintoela and would love to return to Tintoela to explore more of the Island.
Shaun met us at the airport and we followed him back, so we didn’t have to find the cottage ourselves. It’s beautiful and has everything needed for a stay, including kitchen facilities, laundry and beach gear. The grounds are well kept, and the owners were welcoming when we met them working in the garden with their gorgeous puppy. Shaun was really helpful and sorted anything we needed straight away. We’ll definitely go back.
Our first visit to Norfolk Island was a week at Tintoela homestead, and we loved it. The house sits on a hill above green, lush hills, with an ocean view. The accommodation was good quality and had everything we needed. Shaun picked us up at the airport, made us feel welcome right away, and we followed him in our rental car to the house. The wild chicks running around the garden were sweet. And remember, cows have right of way! We managed a few of the 101 things to do, including bush walks around Mount Pitt with lovely views across the island and ocean, the local market and produce, and visits to the Landing Place and Kingston to see the prison ruins. We also toured Colleen McCullough's home. Cyclorama is an impressive display of the history, from Bounty leaving England through Pitcairn and the early days at Norfolk Island. Fishing was great, though it depends on the weather. I was lucky to get out offshore on two beautiful days and catch lots of sweetlips and kingfish. We had fish for dinner almost every night.
We’ve already booked a return to this magical spot. ‘Kushu’ cottage at Tintoela had every modern convenience we could think of, including a car, local mobile phone, coffee machine, BBQ and laundry facilities, plus a lovely food hamper. The stunning view was a bonus. Emma gave us a warm welcome, shared local tips and organised the Baunti Tours familiarisation trip. What a find!
The accommodation was spotless, and everything seemed to have been thought of for a great holiday. Tintoela feels magical, close to everything while still giving you the feeling of being a million miles away.
