Discovery Parks - Busselton

The heated indoor pool was a huge plus, and we had such a great stay from Friday to Sunday. The cabin was amazing, cheap and cheerful, with everything we needed. It had a full-size fridge, pantry space, four single beds in two sets of bunks, plus a separate bedroom with a double bed and wardrobe. The outdoor area wasn't private, but that didn't bother us since we weren't there much. Our main challenge was keeping our two very young kids away from the road out front. On Friday morning I called to ask if the cabin could be ready an hour earlier. The staff were lovely and polite on the phone. We arrived hours earlier than expected and were ready to wait, but they checked us in straight away. They couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. A washer/dryer and a basic vacuum would make a big difference. Wet weather brought quite a bit of dirt and debris inside, and I imagine sand would be similar in summer. I hope Discovery Parks Busselton keeps doing well and can put some money into freshening up the cabins. We were stoked with them as they are, though, and will definitely be back in the warmer months! 🌞

Beach access at the back leads straight to a walking and bike path, handy if you feel like getting out. The sites are really big, so there’s room for a larger setup, and cabins are available too. There’s power, water and a dump point, plus a great heated indoor pool. All three amenities blocks were kept very clean.

We used the park as a base for four nights while exploring Margaret River, Pemberton and Busselton. It was peaceful, and the staff were very helpful. We made lots of use of the easy beach and bike path access. The amenities were clean. A path to the rear amenities would be useful, though, so you’re not tracking dirt on wet shoes after a shower or when it’s raining. The roads between sites are very tight, which made reversing our 15-foot van difficult. I’d have needed a lot of patience, and can only imagine it’s harder with a larger van. Our concrete slab was also broken and raised, and needs redoing.

The pool was a big hit with us. It’s lovely and warm, with a shallow area for kids and a deep end where adults can have fun too. We came with friends after high school last December and liked it so much that we’re planning to make it an annual trip. It’s close enough to town for a quick trip in, but away from the bustle. The kitchen was clean, with tables and couches that seemed sanitary for a public space. Wi-Fi was patchy and not reliable enough to count on for loading things, though it was nice when it worked, and usually a bit stronger in the kitchen. If you’re staying in a tent over summer, expect lots of cicadas on the outside.
