Sandy Bay Holiday Park

The high ceiling and beautiful wooden beams made waking up in the chalet feel so peaceful. I didn't take room photos, but it was stunning. The place was cozy and the wood fire kept us warm. There's plenty to keep kids and adults occupied, including a basketball hoop, giant chessboard and playground. We also made use of the BBQ in the covered area, so eating outdoors is easy whatever the weather. The beach is close, and shops are only a short drive away. A lovely spot for a relaxing, fun escape.

I ended up having to walk to the beach in the middle of the night just to find somewhere to pee. I almost stepped on a baby smake on the path, too. It was deeply uncomfortable and inconvenient, and felt dangerous. Bring your own toilet, or you may have no access all night. The first night I woke up desperate to go, but the toilet was locked. I had to hold it until morning, when they unlocked it. The next day I got the code for the male toilet, but at 2am the old, useless push button lock still wouldn't open after about ten tries, even with the exact code they'd given me. There were too many guests and nowhere else to pee. They'd also just turned on the sprinklers by my tent, so going back and holding it wasn't an option. This was a third world bathroom experience. Why lock the toilets at night, then use such a bad analogue push button lock that won't open with the right pin? It was a really awful thing to do to guests, and I had to write this review to warn people.

A lovely shady caravan park right on the water, with well kept lawns and yards. The showers and toilets were all good, and there are quite a few cabins that are okay too.

The cabins were clean and comfortable, and ours was under a 100m walk from a beautiful sheltered bay. We had a lovely, relaxed and happy four-night stay. The service was faultless, and so was the rest of the stay.
