Getaways at Byfield

A freshly baked focaccia was waiting for us, and it was delicious and such a thoughtful touch. We only saw the owners briefly, but they were genuinely lovely. The Little Lake House felt like a hidden gem, with privacy and peace that made it feel completely removed from the outside world. Everything was ready when we arrived, and check-in was seamless, so we could settle in without interruption. It was an incredible stay, and we’ll make it a yearly escape.

We spent two lovely nights in the comfortable, relaxing Lakeside Cabin after Lonely Planet recommended Byfield National Park and we found Getaways. It’s wonderfully quiet, with nature sounds from ducks, kookaburras and frogs. We had dinner overlooking the lagoon, and the kitchen was stocked with the equipment we needed. We took a few walks, read, and enjoyed coffee from the local store. The homemade focaccia was a real treat. A special place to stay, and credit to the young owners for creating such a tranquil getaway.

The ducks kept us company nearly the whole time, and they’re very cute, even if they don’t understand personal space. We enjoyed the nature walk, which I imagine would be even prettier when the creek has water in it. The cabin was incredibly comfortable, the spa bath felt luxurious, and the grill was clean. We appreciated the complimentary focaccia too, and would definitely like to return.

Quiet, close to nature, and really well set out. A great place to chill and unwind. Highly recommended.
