Clarkes Beach House is a lovely place for a big group, and this was our fourth visit. We were here with young adults and grandparents, and the renovation has made it even easier for everyone to enjoy the house together while still finding a quiet corner. The main floor bedroom is helpful for anyone who finds stairs difficult, though there are a few steps up to the house. The beds and pillows are comfortable, the linen and fittings are high quality, and the laundry and ironing facilities make a longer stay easier. We especially enjoyed the updated pool area. It’s secure, has both sunny and shaded spots, and connects naturally with the house for gathering and entertaining. The new kitchen looks great, has plenty of room for everyone to gather, and is well equipped. The house stays cool with good airflow, or with the quiet, effective air conditioner on hot days. The location makes it easy to enjoy Byron Bay and the surrounding area. You can walk on flat paths to the beach, shops and restaurants, which is a real plus in this hilly town. The Beach Café is less than a five minute walk for breakfast or coffee. For an uphill walk, Top Shop and the lighthouse track are nearby, with forest and lovely views along the way. Although the house is on a popular road, it stays quiet inside. Parking is valuable this close to the beach, so having one space in the garage and another in the driveway is a relief. We love this thoughtfully furnished house and will be back.
