Satara Byron Bay - coastal lifestyle

Jen was friendly, quick to respond to emails, and accommodating. Satara itself is stylish and clearly well thought out, with spacious, well designed rooms, a lovely pool area, and a lounge and kitchen that are a great addition. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. I saw the Google reviews and can't speak to that family's experience, but the string of one-star posts reads like spiteful, disgruntled rambling and is hard to follow. I doubt things were as awful as they're claiming, and it's a shame Jen and Satara have been affected. Based on our stay, I'd recommend the place and take those negative reviews with a pinch of salt. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I left feeling anxious and stressed, and wouldn't recommend staying here. In the three hours after we unpacked, the owner was repeatedly messaging us privately or turning up at our front door over issues. With her on the other side of the wall, my wife, our 15monthold daughter and I felt as though we were in the owners' spare room, without privacy or freedom. That night, we were pressured to leave through what felt like intimidating threats and comments. I hope nobody else has to go through what we did. I wouldn't normally use words like RACISM or DISCRIMINATION, but that's how the owner's welcome felt to me. I didn't know the owner at first. A car stopped in the main driveway while I was looking around the shared living and kitchen area and checking the utilities, then drove on and parked. Back in my room, I met a woman. I smiled and asked, 'hello, are you the owner?' She said, 'Yes I am' in a confronting manner. Save yourself the anxiety and stress and look elsewhere. I don't think it's worth it.

This was our third stay at Satara, and we miss it already. It's gorgeous, spotless, and wonderfully quiet. You can't hear a thing from the other rooms, so it's ideal for a peaceful romantic rainforest getaway. The beds gave us the best night's sleep, and the host is lovely and caring.

If children aren't allowed, the property should be clearly advertised as adults only. It was listed as a place for a family holiday, but when our 15monthold made noise or cried at night, the owner said we'd have to leave immediately. She was unwelcoming, made us uncomfortable, and expected us to find somewhere else at 8pm with no refund. We ended up swapping accommodation with our family, and she didn't care. It was an awful experience.
