Halcyon House

The spa treatments were a highlight of our three night anniversary stay. Melanie and Claire gave us wonderful massages and facials, and the gift shop had some interesting things too. We also loved the a la carte breakfast, especially the corn fritters and pancakes, and had a delicious prawn lunch with cocktails before we were shown to our room. We stayed in 306, an ocean view room with a bed that felt like a cloud. From the welcome gin and tonic at the bar tables to the warm, professional service, we felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. Mia, Kira and Chloe looked after us at lunch and dinner, and Amelia, who was training, showed real promise with Mia supporting her. Tara and Michael made great drinks as well. Halcyon House made our 30th anniversary feel special. We’re already thinking about coming back.

The room was clean and comfy, and it was great being so close to the beach with lots of nice walks nearby. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the little details were thoughtfully handled. We ate well all weekend, from breakfast and poolside snacks to dinner at Paper Daisy, where our dietary needs were taken into account. Thanks for a really relaxing weekend away. I’d happily recommend it for a few quiet nights.

We had a fantastic dinner at paper daisy, and the stay itself was just as special. After checkout, we were still welcome to use the facilities, including the showers and bathrooms, since we didn’t want to leave straight away. Even by the pool, the staff came around with complimentary gelato for everyone. There were thoughtful touches throughout, from the welcome drink to the little cake in our room and the turn down service. I’d wanted to stay here for ages, and it went beyond what I expected. I can’t recommend it enough and can’t wait to come back.

Lunch at Paper Daisy finally felt worth another visit after our earlier experiences with the set menus, which had seemed a bit limited for us. This time the food was elegant, really tasty and beautifully presented, without the hint of pretentiousness we’d felt before. The coastal setting was lovely for a relaxed lunch where you could dress up or down, with a breeze and beautiful decor. It reminded us of the Bahamas (one and only), which is quite a compliment. Service was generally exceptional, although the first drinks order took a while and drinks were slow to arrive after that too. Still, sitting there made the wait easy. Thanks to the whole team. It’s our pick from Burleigh to Byron, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommended.
