Aquarius Private Apartments

The property had plenty of space and was clean, with nice decor, but we ran into a few problems. There was a bathroom leak that we reported to the manager, and bugs kept coming in under the sliding patio door. The dryer also stopped working, though that was only on our last night. The manager replied quickly to emails, but none of these issues were fixed. Three stars feels generous.

Richard, thanks! We were very happy with the stay and would give it 10+ through booking dot com. Unit 8 is beautifully decorated, with comfortable beds and two master suites. The Aquarius feels secure, with the fob controlling the entrances, car park and elevator. I loved the ceiling fans, and there are A/C wall units in every room. The balcony views across the ocean to the island were primo. Sunrise and the fox bats returning in the morning were amazing, and there’s an outdoor gym across the street. It’s central to just about everything you might want to do. There are a few things that could use attention: the exhaust vents are clogged with lint and dust, the hanging lamps over the island are dusty, the couch is worn and needs cleaning, and its cushions need replacing with firmer ones. There were pictures on the wall by the front door, but they were gone, so I moved the laundry room pictures onto the empty hooks in the front room. The balcony dining table also has mold developing under the thick clear plastic cover. Finding the car park entrance was a little crazy, and locating our space was even trickier. We assumed the 008 tag on the fob and apartment key meant Unit 8. We also searched everywhere for the Wi-Fi details before finding them on the refrigerator door. I shouldn’t admit this, but we didn’t have groceries until the next day!

We got great value for money and would stay here again. It’s a great spot for Cairns. Unit 46 was clean, though it’s aged and could use some TLC. The building overall is well maintained, but the pool area could do with an upgrade.

Apartment 57 is spacious and clean, with wonderful views over the esplanade and the sunrise between two mountains. There’s no concierge, but we didn’t need one. The location is amazing, just a two-minute walk from some of the best restaurants, the esplanade lagoon and the night market.
