Aspect Central

The staff were so nice and helped us a lot during our stay. Our room was good and spacious.

There’s an insect problem in the ground-floor rooms. I know that’s normal for this area, but if reception is closed, it’s difficult since there’s nothing in the room to kill them.

For the price, the motel is decent, though fairly basic, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The cleaning was a letdown. We asked for our room to be serviced, but they only made the bedding up without changing the sheets. The dirty mugs and spoons were still on the table when we got back tired from our day out, and the extra bedding we’d requested for my child had been taken away. We’d returned from our booked tour after reception closed at 7pm, so there was nothing we could do about the missing bedding that night. There was still a small piece of toilet paper on the bathroom floor by the toilet too, so it clearly hadn’t been cleaned. Rooms are only serviced on request, which makes better cleaning standards a good place to start improving.

We stayed three nights and just needed a bed and air con while we explored Cairns. This is basic, old, and a bit rough around the edges, but it did the job. The car park has limited spaces and is pretty tight. We skipped the pool, and I wouldn’t recommend the laundry: there’s only one machine, and our clothes came out dirtier than they went in. The air con in our first room broke. We went to reception in the morning and were moved to another room very quickly. There were quite a few cockroaches and ants in the first room, nothing too wild for Australia, but the second room was completely fine. We slept well and felt pretty safe. The air con, fridge, TV, fan, microwave, and kettle all worked in the end. For the price, we’d stay again.
