Bay Village Tropical Retreat & Apartments

We ended up spending the night in our car after booking a room for the Christmas holidays. The first room they showed us smelled so bad, had very old furniture and a noisy AC. We couldn't breathe in there, and my one-year-old cried until we left. Reception showed us another room, but that smelled too. We did like one room, though it was small, and asked if they could provide an extra bed or at least a cot for the baby. They refused and told us to stay in the smelly room instead. The rooms also didn't match the pictures. For the same money, there are much better options nearby. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. If you care about your money, don't choose it.

Waking up to birdsong gave the place a really natural feel. I found the tropical trees around the room and swimming pool so romantic. This is Australia.

Being able to walk into town was a plus, but our self-contained two-bedroom apartment was dirty and full of ants. The taps didn't work properly, and the air conditioners smelled. It was disgusting, very old and dated. There also wasn't enough secure parking, even though parking was apparently included with our room. At check-in, the woman was extremely rude and acted as if we were an inconvenience. We paid the $100 deposit for damages and still haven't received it back. When I called, they said they hadn't got around to returning it yet. I'd give half a star if I could.

The location was the only good part, since we could walk to plenty of places. We were told at check-in that the room would take 20 minutes, but waited more than an hour. When we finally got in, the floors were still wet and slippery, and the room was filthy. There was human feces around the toilet paper holder, dirt and dead skin caked on the wall by the towel hooks, and a dirty, blocked shower head. The area around the light switches was marked and grotty, and the cupboard handles looked like they had never been wiped. I showed reception photos and told them about it. All they said was sorry, with no offer of a refund, credit or anything. Very disappointing and disgusting.
