The staff were friendly and helpful, but seemed limited in what they could do. The restaurant was reachable only by crossing the open-air pool and car park, with no shelter from the weather. Its menu was limited and suited people who like Chinese food; breakfast was a traditional buffet. There was no bar or comfortable lounge, though reception sold a small selection of drinks. The pool was open, but patio renovation seemed to be in progress and I never saw anyone working. We stayed four nights in February 2026. The location is very good, but I can’t recommend this hotel. It’s old, worn out and needs a complete renovation, more like a hostel than a hotel. Reception didn’t seem to have disabled access, and getting to the loft meant climbing a steep flight of stairs. There appeared to be just one staff member on duty at a time. A bucket sat in the hallway under a large ceiling hole, catching rainwater. The ceiling suggested a serious leak that had been there a while, and the bucket stayed there all four days. Our room was spacious, but the furniture was very old and worn. The TV hung precariously off the wall. There were dirty fingerprints by the door and fridge, old pink bathroom tiles, and peeling Formica on the vanity. Black mould showed around the tiles, especially by the bath and floor. The cheap plastic toilet seat wouldn’t stay upright. The powerful over-bath shower was the only good point. Having stayed at other Ramada hotels, I was very disappointed.

The neighborhood is lovely, and there’s a gym that’s decent for a quick workout, though nothing special. The trouble is, the access door is faulty, so staff have to let you in each time. The room was dated but large. During my five nights I saw six cockroaches in the room. I told reception and they said they’d spray it, but I still saw some the next morning. On my last morning, one fell from the ceiling as I was heading to the bathroom and just missed me. The place must be filthy. I ate at the restaurant twice, both times at breakfast, and wouldn’t recommend it. The food wasn’t great, and for a few dollars more you can eat better elsewhere, like Latte on the Lake. I was only there for a work trip, so I suppose I shouldn’t complain too much. But for a well-deserved holiday, I’d spend a little extra on somewhere better in the area.

The overnight laundry service was a real bonus. I didn’t have to travel with dirty clothes. The restaurant was convenient and the food was great, and the location made it easy to walk around and enjoy the area. This was one of my favorite stays. My room’s vaulted ceilings were second only to one I stayed in in Mexico City. Staff were very helpful with a couple of special requests.

The pool was closed while construction work was going on, which was a shame because it would have been nice to relax by it. The service, though, was great, especially from manager sarah. She was welcoming and always smiling. It’s a shame she’s leaving next week for another job, as future guests will miss her. This was my first stay, and I was lucky to get a modernised room, which is why I’m giving it four stars. I saw some rooms that hadn’t been updated, and I’d have rated a stay in one of those two stars. I’d only come back if I could get a modernised room.

The port is just a few minutes away, and the lovely lagoon is about a five-minute walk if you want to swim. We didn’t try the restaurant, so I can’t comment on it. Sarah at reception was lovely and happy to answer our questions. We’d read some reviews and felt a little unsure before arriving, but needn’t have worried. This isn’t five-star luxury, and the price reflects that. Our room was dated but clean, with good bed linen and towels. Housekeeping came in each day during our three-night stay, and the bathroom was fine. Work was happening around the place, and the pool wasn’t finished, though it didn’t look far off. We went to The Reef with Reef Magic and would highly recommend them.
