Motel Nomad Cairns

The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. The rest of the room was a letdown: there were cockroaches and other insects, especially in the bathroom, and the place felt quite dirty. After it was mopped, the floor was left soaking wet while we were out. We had booked for four, but were given only two mugs. The bedroom also had just one white fluorescent light, far too bright for that space.

The location is a big plus, with Coles and DFO only a block away, shops nearby, and Casaly's and a fabulous Thai restaurant close for meals. Our car was securely kept away from public access, and although the motel was fully booked, we still had a quiet, restful sleep. The people were lovely and the price was much lower than some other places, so we’d definitely return for the value and location. There are a lot of rooms packed into a small area, and the property is a bit worn. Our room and bathroom were large, though, and it was extremely clean for an older room. The bed was very comfortable. The shower had plenty of hot water and space, but water sprayed from the joins as well as the showerhead holes.

The room was spotless, with neat furniture and a comfortable bed, and it was much quieter at night than where I stayed near the waterfront before. There’s a lovely big pool, plenty of gardens and parking, plus great coffee and Thai food on the same block. The staff have been wonderfully helpful with every request. I’m looking forward to coming back!

A really clean, tidy motel with a great pool. Cornella at reception was so helpful and bubbly. I’ll come back whenever I need a room in town.
