The back patio and tropical garden were my favourite part, such a relaxing spot. The townhouse was beautiful inside, with comfortable beds and great facilities. We were also pleasantly surprised by the board games, which made it a lovely family getaway near Cairns. The hosts were responsive, kind and very helpful. It was easy to get to the beach and public transport, and we could unwind by the pool or have a BBQ at the end of the day. What more could you ask for on holiday?

I was very disappointed with Unit 1. It wasn't advertised as the shared accommodation it turned out to be. The owners live in the home with three other adults, and guests stay in one of its bedrooms, so privacy is limited. There are no views, and the guest living room is dark. I wasn't given instructions for staying there. I asked to cancel, but the owner hasn't agreed to refund part of my stay. The owners don't seem interested in making sure guests understand the shared setup or are happy with their experience. I wouldn't recommend it. There are better places where you can enjoy the views and get better service. It's worth paying a bit more for somewhere with the beach at your back door.

I never actually got to stay at Lahania By The Sea because of cyclone Jasper, but their help with my booking was amazing. They warned me about the cyclone in advance, even though I hadn't heard about it, so I could stay safe. Later, when I needed to cancel my non-refundable booking, they worked hard to find a solution. I'm only visiting Australia and wouldn't have been able to rebook. Huge thanks to the Lahania By The Sea team for being so kind and responsive, especially when they must have been very busy.
