The Jack Backpackers

I was placed with three great guys from Germany, Matthias, Felix and Harry. They were all clean, honest, considerate and respectful. Matthias especially was welcoming, smart, charming and great to chat with. At reception, Harriott, Ricky, Seri and another lovely woman with dark curly hair helped with my requests and made sure I was comfortable. I wanted somewhere affordable and central for everything Cairns has to offer, and this place fit. The rooms are affordable and the atmosphere is friendly, with good vibes all around. I stayed on the music and pub side, so yes, it was loud, but they'd warned me beforehand and I loved the music. I'd visit again. Great job, team!

The reception team were so kind and helpful, and the rooms were clean with great air conditioning. There's also a large, practical kitchen. I had a really good stay here, and the price was excellent for what you get. Highly recommend it.

Jack Backpackers was spotless, lively and welcoming, with kind staff and good facilities. Harriet at reception deserves a special mention for her care and dedication, she made people feel at home. It's also a handy base for exploring Cairns, and I loved the location. A note on the two sides: the motel-style rooms open toward the bar, so you can hear music until 2am. The backpackers side is completely quiet. I've stayed on both, and light sleepers should ask reception for the quiet side. If you like music and stay up late, the motel side has the vibe. The staff are lovely and glad to help either way.

This was our second year in a row choosing this Cairns hostel, and we're just as happy with it. It feels welcoming and lively, with the kind of atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Seeing Harriet, the manager, again was a treat. She's always kind and helpful. We also got to catch up with friends we'd met here last year, which made the stay even more special. Highly recommend it if you want a friendly place right in the heart of Cairns.
