The breakfast buffet was the best part, with an impressive range of choices. The hotel was clean, and my room was big and a good size. The interiors and car park feel dated and could do with an update. It’s also a little away from the main shopping and dining areas, so expect about a 10-minute walk if you want to eat out. A dependable option if you don’t mind that stroll.

The location worked well for families, right in the city and next to Holey Moley and the entertainment arcade. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient, and reception staff were friendly, polite, and professional. The hotel was very clean, including both our room and the shared areas, which we appreciated. It does look a little dated, especially the bathroom. The shower and bathtub could use an upgrade. Breakfast was acceptable, though there wasn’t much variety.

I liked how the desk sits behind the bed, so people on online meetings won’t see the rest of the room. The food was delicious, though it cost a bit more than I expected, and the staff were friendly and polite. The hotel is lovely, clean, and modern, with well-appointed rooms. Shops and cafes are an easy walk away. One small annoyance was the unusual wind-up window blinds. Curtains would be better, since the blinds take so much effort to open and close and feel a bit antiquated. Still, I had a very pleasant stay and would happily return.

I was very unhappy with the billing. I paid everything at checkout, but two days after checking out, another amount was taken from my bank account without my consent. The hotel told me it was a security hold when I contacted them. I’ve had to call and email repeatedly, and after two weeks I still haven’t got my money back. Guests should be told clearly before any amount is deducted, whether it’s for security or something else. The location was very convenient, close to the city and within walking distance of most places. The rooms were clean and good value for the price. This was my first stay at Crowne Plaza Canberra, and the billing experience left me very disappointed.
