Hotel Realm

My mate and I are amateur foodies, and we left Louis Restaurant seriously impressed. The burger is cheaper than at most other places, and I’ve already booked to go back. If you like a good burger, this place has one. The patty was soft and juicy, the grilled cheese, sauce and pickles balanced it perfectly, and the bun was soft too. Fries were crispy. I went specifically for the burger after seeing the good reviews, and they definitely know what they’re doing.

My dad booked us a stay here from 2025 to 2026 so we could visit Canberra and enjoy New Year with my family, coming to the ACT from NSW. The rooms were perfectly clean, and breakfast was very good, going to be 💯 good. There’s a spa and pool too, though I wish the pool was outside because that would look better. I didn’t know what to say when I found out you can see REAL TIME FLIGHTS on the TV. Recommended here.

The children’s welcome really stood out. The team set up a little tent and activities for our kids, aged 3 and 7. It was unexpected, thoughtful and generous, and made them feel genuinely welcome. Ash at reception also made a strong impression, with calm, warm and attentive service throughout. Ash is clearly a leader on the front-of-house team. Adam and the wider reception staff were just as polished and kind, and made help feel easy to ask for. Housekeeping were unfailingly respectful and considerate, noticing the special touches, and keeping the room immaculate. The room was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Dining was excellent too, with attentive, discreet service. Hotel Realm showed the kind of intelligent, anticipatory and human care I expect from luxury hospitality. Senior management should be proud of Ash and the whole team. This service builds trust, loyalty and reputation, and sets Hotel Realm apart in Canberra. We’d absolutely return and recommend it without hesitation.

We booked Hotel Realm for New Year’s Eve to celebrate our anniversary. Canberra means a lot to us, and we hoped to make another special memory together, especially as my husband’s medical condition progresses. Instead, the stay brought disappointment and frustration. I wish we’d chosen somewhere else. The room was short on basics: there was only one pair of slippers for two guests, and no shower gel or shampoo. Contacting reception was difficult too. Staff didn’t answer calls directly and would call back later, which made getting timely help frustrating. The in-room washing machine leaked and was hard to use. After several requests, a staff member came to open it but didn’t explain that we wouldn’t be able to open it ourselves once it was shut. We had to use the hotel laundry service, which returned our clothes still wet. I gave up at that point. For a hotel advertised as five-star, this was absurd. The service and attention to detail fell well below that standard.
