Jo made planning the birthday lunch easy from the first call. She helped us put together a menu, checked that everyone was comfortable, and timed each dish perfectly, even with the place so busy. We ate at the Canungra Hotel on 28 December, and everything ran smoothly. The food was outstanding, the team were warm and attentive, and the whole lunch felt special and stress-free. Thanks to Jo and everyone there for a fantastic birthday celebration.

The rooms were the best part of our weekend stay. They were modern, bright, had everything we needed, and were very reasonably priced. We even had a friendly lizard for a roommate. I was surprised how quiet they were, considering they're above a bar. Downstairs was a different story: it smelled and felt grimy, with beer mats scattered around and random junk in a corner. The bar prices seemed fair, though we didn't have much there. Tidy up that area and it would be a lovely place. As hotel guests, we were really happy with the rooms.

The staff were lovely and welcoming, but the food was absolutely terrible. The lasagna with slow-cooked beef cheeks in red wine looked appetising, yet it was the most tasteless meal I can remember. Every bite was a letdown. The prices were a little high, which might be fine if the food matched them. Even basic drinks were extremely expensive: a lemon lime bitters was $8.40. We just moved to the area, but we won't be back. I wish I'd read the other reviews first.

Great service and atmosphere today. I’m a bit disabled while recovering from a recent operation, and two women from the beer garden bar noticed I was struggling. They quickly helped me to a table, asked what I wanted to eat and drink, and I gave them my key card. I was able to relax and enjoy myself. I'll definitely be back.

The staff were very nice and the beer was cold, but the food was terrible. The Humpty Doo barramundi was a disgrace. I'm pretty sure they'd run out, so they cut a piece in half and served it to us while charging full price. You can see the size next to my finger in the photos. The tartare sauce was mayonnaise with a bit of parsley, and the Caesar salad came with mayonnaise dressing too. When we sent it back, we were told they'd run out of both sauces. Time for a new chef.
