Cape Jervis Holidays Unitis

It was so quiet we could hear the birds, and we felt safe and relaxed during our stay. The unit was spotlessly clean, and the kids loved the cubby outside. The owners were friendly, kind, and full of recommendations for the area. They even lent us insect spray until we could get into town. We enjoyed staying here.

The cabin could use a proper clean and an update. We had trouble with the TV, so it was replaced, but the new one was smaller, about the size you’d expect in a bedroom. We couldn’t use the outdoor BBQ because it hadn’t been cleaned in who knows how long.

The grounds were quiet and full of birds and animals, and the location worked well for our ferry trip to Kangaroo Island. The unit’s exterior looked tired and neglected. Inside, the main bedroom doona had a blood spot, and the TV remote didn’t work because of the batteries. The kitchen clock also needed batteries. Both exhaust fans, in the kitchen and bathroom, were dirty and didn’t work. The kitchen light cover was dirty and full of dead flies, and the pots and pans had been put away unwashed, stained with what looked like previous curries. A bit of maintenance would go a long way. We shouldn’t have to clean up after other people before we can use things ourselves.

We had a gift voucher for our shoulder season stay, but even the full summer price seems good value for what’s included. There’s a welcome basket with breakfast for the first morning, plus tea, coffee and basic cooking condiments. The beds were really comfortable, and the owners, managers and staff were lovely and knew the area well. The bright, modern individual units are very comfy. Evenings were a treat, sitting quietly on the porch among the trees and listening to the birds settle in. There’s also a nice BBQ area, a children’s play area and a stainless steel fish cleaning spot. It’s a great place for families and pets, whether you’re staying the night before the ferry to Kangaroo Island, coming back from it, or spending a few nights exploring this beautiful stretch of the South Australian coast. We absolutely loved it.
