Cape Tribulation Beach House

The restaurant was a real highlight. The Kangaroo Fillet is well worth trying, though the included breakfast is just toast and cereal. There’s a separate breakfast menu with other options. The beach is right there and makes for a lovely view, but watch for crocs in the water. The one we saw seemed far too interested in us. We stayed with a tour group, and the setting deep in the rainforest is very unique. Rooms are cozy and have AC, but ours needed some TLC: a soft patch in the floor and ants coming through a crack in the trim around a wall feature. Still, it’s a great place for a couple of nights despite those issues.

Dean really came through when we got a flat tire on the way to the resort. We couldn't get the plastic lug nut covers off, so he drove back and forth to us multiple times to find a wrench that fit, and we were able to put on the spare. He deserves a huge raise. The resort itself was awesome too, with great food and a secluded beach.

The mattress was one of the worst I've slept on, really springy but rock hard. Such a shame, because everything else was lovely: a rainforest setting, direct beach access, a great restaurant, and friendly, flexible staff. Our room was neat, and the big fridge was handy for food and drinks.

The rooms are basic, but the location is something else and the restaurant food is amazing. Try the kangaroo steaks. I'd go back just for those.
