Mai Tai Resort

The location up in the rainforest hills is spectacular, with views across the valley to the Coral Sea. I stayed in the quiet, secluded, rear-facing Hibiscus Room. The Balinese style carries through all the buildings, and the furnishings are brought directly from Bali, which felt authentic to me since I’ve been there. Andre' was a great host and made sure I had what I needed to be comfortable. He knows the area well and suggested plenty to see. I especially liked the nearby Australian Chocolate Farm, a nice quiet place for lunch with some of the best chocolate I’ve had, and Shannonvale Tropical Fruit Winery, where you can taste wine and buy bottles. Breakfast on the veranda was a lovely way to take in the views. It was light and healthy, with cereals, breads, jellies and local fruit. As a coffee drinker, I particularly enjoyed having French Pressed coffee each morning. I spent four relaxing days here in mid-December 2025 and will definitely stay at the Mai Tai again next time I’m in Queensland.

If big corporate hotels aren’t your thing, you’d probably enjoy Mai Tai. It’s a quiet retreat away from the Port Douglas bustle, though Mossman and PD are easy to reach for restaurants and shopping. The views are spectacular, and there’s enough peace and quiet to enchant the Kerrigan family. We stayed six nights and found the decor distinctive and the breakfast delicious. Andre is thoughtful and had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. We wholeheartedly recommend it to travellers looking for a peaceful stay.

The pool was a treat, and we mostly had it to ourselves while we were there. It’s also an easy drive to Port Douglas and Mossman. The rooms were beautiful, and breakfast was included, generous and full of choices. It’s such a special, peaceful place with a homey feel and stunning views. André was a wonderful host. Thanks for making our stay feel so perfect!

A really relaxing place to stay, surrounded by rainforest but still conveniently close to Mossman and Port Douglas. Breakfast was delicious, especially the local fruits. The accommodation had a peaceful feel, and Andre was a fantastic host. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back.
