The room was neat, clean and comfortable, with tea, coffee and soft drinks. We didn't try the soft drinks, so I can't say whether there was a charge. We got the room code by SMS on the day, with all the details we needed. I liked the low-contact check-in, and staff were still easy to approach and friendly when needed. The mattress wasn't very comfortable, and we couldn't find the light switches. There was a Tesla charger in the rear car park too.

The rooms have tall gold rush era ceilings, with modern amenities and some lovely original art prints in the rooms and hallways. It's a rustic, clean and secure place a few streets up from Castlemaine's main strip. Staff were around and helpful, and there were plenty of guide books and maps. Each room has an electronic lock, with the code sent to your device before check-in.

The staff were especially helpful and accommodating, and the room itself was roomy, exceptionally clean and tidy, with lovely views. I had a great stay and won't think twice about booking here next time I'm in Castlemaine.
