Jacaranda Cottage

The kitchen is huge and had everything we needed to cook most meals and clean up. There’s a washing machine too, which came in handy, although drying clothes in 4 degree weather was difficult. The cottage is spacious, and pairing the gas heater with the lounge room ceiling fan warmed it up without much delay. The bathrooms are a decent size, with great heat lamps on frosty mornings. In the bathroom with the bathtub, the light kept switching off, so we used the shower bathroom instead. It was clean and comfortable, and conveniently close to everything. Portable heaters in the bedrooms helped with the cold, but the wall-mounted ones were split and cracked, so we didn’t try them because they looked dangerous. There’s a large crack in one bedroom wall that continues to the outside wall, and cold air comes through parts of it. The walls look like they’ve been repaired a few times, but the house seems to keep moving and many of the repairs have opened up again. I tried the carpet sweeper, but it was covered in what looked like an alarming amount of hair. If we return to Murray Bridge, I’d look at this cottage or its brother/sister again. Thanks for the stay.

We called two hours before we wanted the house because border restrictions left us unsure whether we could get through from NSW. Allan and Rhonas got it ready for us quickly, even though they were about to head out to a function, which we really appreciated. The cottage has a comfortable bed and lounge, and breakfast for the first night was provided: eggs, mushrooms, bacon, tomato, bread and milk. It’s near the shops but on a quiet street, with parking off the street.

A spacious, well-equipped place inside, in a beautiful old stone cottage. The owner was pleasant to deal with. Highly recommended.

Such a quiet place, and spotlessly clean with everything we needed. We loved staying in this cottage.
