Cervantes Pinnacles Motel

For $160 a night, the motel room was unacceptable. I was moved between two rooms, and both were horribly unclean, with dust even in the obvious places. The ACs were a health hazard, and when I raised it, the manager said they couldn’t see anything wrong and that if I was so sensitive I shouldn’t travel. After being rude to me the first night, they did move me to the much nicer resort section, which was kind of them. The bed was comfortable, but my review of the motel room can only be the lowest. Please get the ACs professionally cleaned. I’ve spent over two months traveling Australia’s east and west coasts and staying in cheap motels. This was my first bad experience, and the only place with AC this bad. Comparable motel and holiday park stays were almost half the price and much cleaner. (January 2026)

The rooms are dated, but they were clean, and we had lovely food at the restaurant. There are two pools, the location was fantastic, and the staff were exceptional. We’d seen awful reviews before arriving, so it was a pleasant surprise. We’d stay again.

Options nearby are extremely limited, so the low price, the staff’s steady friendliness and smiles, and being close to Lake Thetis, with its spectacular night sky, helped me accept the stay. Still, this was easily the lowest-grade accommodation I’ve had in all my overseas travels. The room was dim and the facilities felt sparse and dated. The shower was cramped and had weak pressure, and security felt questionable throughout.

The room size was fine and the bed comfortable, but I won’t be back. The bathrooms were a big letdown: coffee stains on the toilet door, ants by the sink, and only cold or ice-cold water in the shower. At the price they charge, warm water is reasonable to expect. They also say they’ll add an $80 fee if you don’t clean up after yourself, which is a lot for a place that doesn’t provide fully cleaned rooms itself.
