Peppercorn Motel

The food was amazing, and the receptionist was very friendly.

The courtyard and pool were really nice, and I loved that they backed right onto our rooms. We stayed one night while moving from Geelong to cairns, and the room service dinner was superb. The main reception lady was super helpful and nice. Excellent place, would highly recommend it to future travellers.

The restaurant looked appealing when I booked, but it was closed on the night we stayed, so that was a bust. Our room had a faint cigarette smell, strongest by the single bed, which we couldn't use. Parking was difficult because of the FIFO type road workers staying there. From around 5:30 am, we could hear their loud phone calls and other conversations until they left for work almost an hour later. The owner had asked us to be considerate because the person next to us was on night shift, but consideration should go both ways. The cleaner started on our room around 8 am. We told them to go away, but they came back within the hour. An apology doesn't cut it when checkout is 10 am. The main bed was okay, but the pillows felt like bags of concrete. Towels were small and thin. The modern-looking shower had a worn shower head and constantly changing temperature, and it flooded the bathroom floor, so we used towels as bathmats. Good thing we only wanted one shower each. We'll stay elsewhere next time.

The meals were spectacular, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert all 5/5. Hats off to the chef. The room was well presented, there was even a novel on the side table to read, and the shower had great water pressure. Thanks for a pleasant stay.
