Chevron Palms

The bathroom was unsanitary, and the kitchen was dirty and very poorly equipped. The carpet, curtains and blinds were old and stained, and the property itself was dirty. The windows and sliding doors don’t lock. Power points weren’t working, and the air con connection to the outside compressor was hanging off the wall. The place wouldn’t meet electrical compliance standards or minimum standards generally.

I still haven’t got my refund, despite calling several times and turning up twice. Booking.com seems unable to get anything either, as the hotel manager denies refunds and ignores their emails. The place needs a major refurbishment and new owners. I booked last minute on Tuesday and arrived around 4:15, after they called because check in was before 4pm, which I hadn’t known. The first room smelled strongly of smoke and ash and was torn up and tired. The young receptionist came back and gave me another room, but it was disgusting and seemed like a biohazard, regardless of the price. There were old grey hairs everywhere, broken electrical appliances held together, faulty air conditioning, and a dirty bathroom covered in stains. The oven was covered and being held up with cardboard, and several walls looked like they’d been punched through. There was broken glass even by the front door, and we had to walk up three floors. I was in each room for less than five minutes. I chose it because it was near Surfers and my work site, hoping to save an hour of travel each morning, but don’t stay here.

I wouldn’t recommend this apartment. It wasn’t cleaned, and the oven was filthy. The shower hadn’t been cleaned either, and the wardrobe mirror doors were smeary and couldn’t open or close. The glass patio door wouldn’t shut. There’s much better accommodation than this, seriously.

I’ve lived at chevron palms for over 10 years. Each unit is privately owned, and more than 25 permanent owners live here, but we have to tell the hopeless caretaker Ray chen to keep the place clean. Beware, manager Ray chen is an abnormal and unstable person. You won’t get a REFUND FROM HIM.
