Watch out when booking this hotel through Booking. It advertises “Free Cancelation” up to a certain date, but there’s a hidden 1.5% credit card charge. Nothing was charged to my card until I cancelled. Then they charged the full amount, and five days later refunded it minus 9%. The hotel and Booking both say they did nothing wrong, so I’m out of pocket. I hope this helps others avoid what the hotel calls “Free Cancelation.” The hotel replied that the reservation and charge process was valid and honest, even though it left me paying 9%. Sorry, I don’t agree. Where I come from, free cancellation is free. The booking conditions say nothing about this excessive 9% charge. That’s fraud.

It was a comfy one-night stay and took me back to when we first came to OZ in 2002. We love holidaying in Australia, and I’ll definitely recommend this place to our family and friends.

The location is great, and the pool was top notch and very clean. We had a great family holiday in a spacious apartment with room for all seven of us for four days. But we had to ask for extra toilet paper, since only two rolls were provided, and there weren’t enough bin bags, tea towels or forks. There were six forks for seven people. The bigger concern was the ants. We called for bug spray when we checked in after seeing them, but it never arrived. With better pest control and attention to those details, it would be perfect.

The location was good, opposite the beach, with a lovely bakery just a few doors up. The grounds and pool were very clean, and check-in was pleasant. In the apartment, though, there were cockroaches, and the living room lounge needs a professional clean. The bathroom had piping problems, and the toilet made noises every minute, keeping us from sleeping. We were there for one night with family, and the room was clean and well equipped. A few simple fixes and a bit more consideration for future stays could make this a little gem.

We had a great stay in high season, though it was pricey. Beach park Apartments had immaculate grounds and the place itself was very clean and tidy. There’s no onsite booking, but the arrangements were easy to make. A room service visit every other day for fresh towels and bath mats would be helpful, especially for families with kids.
