We’re fairly new locals and are gradually trying the places Collie has to offer. On my day off, my husband and I tried breakfast at the Colliefields restaurant. The waiter was lovely, sweet, and courteous. His Big Breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed, and my Smashed Avo was the best I’ve had, which is saying something since it’s my favourite breakfast. The cappuccino was perfect, and we also tried a delightful date cake or pudding that would be great with ice cream. We highly recommend Colliefields. It was cold and windy outside, and since our dog was with us, we sat alfresco.

The location is handy for town and sightseeing, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The place was filthy, with mold on the floor and ceiling, and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in over 20 years. The bed felt like a concrete block. The fire alarm kept going off and maintenance work in the hallway meant there was no chance of sleeping. Other places down the road are much nicer.

That whole Big Breakfast had nothing going for it. Breakfast was awful, perhaps it’s new owners? You’d be better off at the McDonalds across the street. Wouldn’t recommend it.

We paid $64 for what tasted like microwave food. The two $16 pancake serves seemed store bought, were really rubbery, and had been heated up. The $17 avocado smash had way too much lemon, and the so-called poached eggs were tough and rubbery too, probably from the microwave. We went to the Colliefields over the weekend, and now I can see why we were the only ones there.

Not sure what to make of the other reviews, maybe breakfast can be hit and miss. When we went it was good, and the place wasn’t too busy.
