Alkira Motel

When work takes us out for field work around Cooma, we often stay at the Alkira Motel. It's close to town but still very quiet, and the price is reasonable. Rakesh is kind and accommodating. We look forward to coming back to Alkira.

The rooms were okay, but the hard bed, slow hot water, dated look, and poorly kept grounds made for a disappointing stay. It took at least 10 minutes for the water to warm up. We also got back at 9:30pm to find a car and trailer, apparently belonging to the cleaners, blocking the whole driveway entrance. They kept cleaning until after 11pm, rolling trolleys and opening doors, with the noise echoing through the concrete courtyard. There were hassles from the start. We never received check-in details, and the remote owner didn't answer when I called. When they eventually got back to me, there was no apology. The toaster didn't work, so I was told to get one from another room. The iron and ironing board were both coated in a black substance, and again I had to fetch replacements from another room. I'd recommend staying somewhere else rather than at Alkira.

I loved that I could bring my cat. The place was comfortable and peaceful, and very good value for the money.

The rooms were warm and clean, with everything we needed, and checking in was easy. Mona was so lovely and accommodating throughout the booking, making sure our family and baby would be comfortable. Having the joint room was really convenient, and the fold-out bed for bub was a lifesaver. Thank you, Mona, for a lovely stay!
