Cottages for Two

The room felt homely and everything was very clean, though clearly old. It must have been built well for its age. Service was good, the staff were friendly, and the spa was amazing. I liked having enough dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent, and the electric heated fitted sheet was a treat. A few things need attention: the dishwasher smelled awful and should be cleaned, and there was mould in the kitchen sinkhole. I removed it pretty easily, which makes me think staff hadn't tried to clean it. There was only one small bin in the whole room, in the bathroom, and the sign outside on the road needs to be bigger.

The rooms were spacious, with a huge bathroom, and the kitchen and dining area were a plus. It was clean, tidy, and quite comfortable, with good value for money. The decor is dated, but we had a good stay. I would have liked to use the gas log fire, but $30 extra felt too steep, so I used the wall heater.

The location was great, and the place was usable enough, but I was tempted to give it two stars. I settled on three because it wasn't bad enough to make me leave for somewhere else, though it really wasn't clean enough and I didn't feel comfortable. The property looked run down, with an overgrown garden, weeds coming through driveway cracks, and worn, dated furniture. Cleanliness was well below par: there were hairs in the bathtub/spa, grime visible in the toothbrush glass by the sink, and the outside area was dirty. It made me wonder what else I couldn't see.

The management team were really helpful, and getting around was easy. It’s close to the main street but still quiet, with off-street parking. The place was clean and bright, and had all the facilities, dishes, and electronic needs available. A good place to stay, though I wouldn’t recommend it for children or pets.
