We’ve booked plenty of places through Airbnb and other sites, and never had an experience this insulting. The house itself was lovely, but the host’s messages after our stay were extremely unprofessional. The trouble started after we privately and politely shared some constructive feedback. The hosts took it as an insult, accused us of leaving a yellow mark on the bedspread (we hadn’t), and made an issue of a chair not being put back after we moved a couple of chairs so all four of us could sit together. There was only a two seater sofa. My husband had booked for me because I was away for a girls’ weekend with family and friends. The host called him a “lady” and implied that the four women on the trip were all his wives. The booking had been offered and accepted at the agreed Airbnb rate. Afterwards, the host complained they hadn’t made any money and blamed us for the travel between Melbourne and the house to get it ready.
