Emu Bay Lodge

The big deck and panoramic view over Emu Bay beach were highlights, and the wide grassy park is only 75m from the beachfront. You can drive on the beach, launch a boat and fish, try your luck from the jetty, or book a trip with the local charter boat (Shaun). Kingscote is a 20 minute drive on a sealed road for essentials. The house is spacious and could suit two families, with beds for 4 adults and 4 children. Inside, there's a huge open area with two lounge rooms, each with its own TV. The kitchen has a walk-in pantry and dishwasher, and there are 2 bathrooms and 2 toilets. There's also a single garage, laundry with a washing machine but no dryer, and fast WiFi (+60Mbps). The master has a double bed, ensuite and walk-in robe; bedroom 2 has a double bed and built-in robe; bedroom 3 has 2 singles and a built-in robe; bedroom 4 has a bunk bed, built-in robe, foldout bed and cot. Water pressure was good, though the water isn't on mains. Heating is by gas and electric wall heaters, with portable oil heaters in the rooms. Cooling is ceiling fans only. It was tidy and clean, with the essentials most people need. The furnishings are typical of a holiday rental, with mismatched second-hand pieces. Some styling and minor maintenance could make it much better. A few things caused trouble during our stay. The washing machine wasn't draining and made suspicious noises. Flying ants got inside at night, and we couldn't find where they were coming in. We were locked out because no key was supplied for the screen door or garage door. There were mice in the garage, though none in the house. The dishwasher door and washing machine need fixing, keys should be supplied, and the furniture and decor could be updated.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable, with lovely views. A beautiful place to stay.
