RACV Goldfields Resort

We arrived around five in the afternoon for our one night stay. The location looked lovely, and the reception staff welcomed us warmly. I asked for an upstairs room at check-in, but everything was booked because of the public holiday. That was fine for just one night. The room was nice, though nothing special, and the bathroom was a little small. It was very clean. We asked about dinner and were directed to the restaurant, but found it expensive and decided to eat out near the city instead. Ballarat was beautiful, with a lovely atmosphere in the chilly weather. We had a very pleasant visit at an amazing resort. Thanks for the lovely venue and good service.

Winter was cosy, warm and peaceful here, just the retreat I needed to care for myself after illness. The countryside around Creswick is dear to my heart, and Creswick, Clunes and Daylesford are all within driving distance. It’s also a handy base for exploring Ballarat, and only 1.5 hours from Melbourne. I’d like to return. My room was comfortable and sparkling clean, with a spa bath and a lovely view over the tree canopy as the sun set. The staff were friendly and professional, and the service was attentive. Breakfast was a treat, and I met lots of friendly guests. The three night package and RACV membership discount made it great value for me.

The loud skip collection at 7:45 in the morning, right outside our room, was my one real complaint. If rooms are that close to an early garbage pickup area, they need better soundproofing. I was hoping to sleep in, so next time I’d book a fairway room facing the golf course for a quieter night. That aside, it was an enjoyable stay and I’d come back. Staff were helpful and professional, the room was neat and very clean, and the bed was comfortable. I usually look for somewhere central when travelling for work, but the two onsite restaurants and facilities meant I could unwind without driving out to dinner. The onsite EV charger was a big plus for me. It goes up to 50 kW, so it’s not a super fast charger. It seems like a good family spot too, with a playground and pool. The room’s shower was a high rain shower in a very small corner enclosure, worth knowing if a good shower matters to you. There was also a spa bath with a window into the room, so you could watch TV from the bath. That seemed like a nice idea.

We used the RACV offer for two nights at $339. It covered breakfast both mornings, dinner one night, a $40 drinks voucher, and an $85 voucher for the golf or gift shop. The drinks voucher was meant to be $30, but they added $10 if you skipped room service after the first night. We’re not golfers, so most of the shop voucher went towards a great local gin. The staff were friendly, the rooms basic but clean, and the shower was excellent. We were very happy with the included breakfasts and dinner. My only criticism is the smoking area. It’s far from the building, dark and uncovered, and not a great place to be alone at night. I’d still return, especially for a deal like this one.
